The inaugural Grace Singer award for contribution to love of Reading and Literature was presented to a Year 7 student in November 2016. The Singer family established the award to recognise Grace Singer’s service as one of the first teachers at Mount Scopus College (1948 – 1952). Grace Singer taught English, and the award is for someone who not only loves reading but inspires a passion for reading in others.
Grace Singer’s daughter-in-law Sharron and grandsons Ari and Josh Singer attended Mount Scopus, and Mia Singer is set to begin at GBH, marking four generations of involvement with the school.
